The Government of Canada is providing additional financial support to Canadians facing homelessness and women fleeing gender-based violence. The federal government will provide $157.7 million to the Reaching Home program to address homelessness, and $40 million is allocated to Women and Gender Equity Canada (WAGE).

“Domestic violence isn’t less important under COVID-19. In fact, it is even heightened, but people need to reach out to police or a crisis line … when they are in a violent situation,” – RCMP domestic violence coordinator Constable Julie Clelland.
