During COVID-19, faculty and staff have adapted the ways in which we work and support others. These changes add stress and pressure to our home and work lives. This session will provide an opportunity to bring those working in B.C.’s post-secondary sector together to learn how to recognize burnout and explore some strategies to guard against it. Participants are encouraged to share their own unique challenges and discuss strategies they have developed for self-care and well-being.

Facilitators:

Anuschka Naidoo, MA, RCC has been a counsellor for the last 8 years, but is new to Douglas College. Anuschka comes from the YMCA of Greater Vancouver where she established the Y Mind Group that is now a Provincially funded program running in over 25 communities across B.C.  Anuschka uses evidence-based tools of mindfulness and behavioural approaches to support youth and adults to learn healthy coping strategies to enrich their lives and find purpose.

Dylan Le Roy, Ma, RCC has worked in post-secondary for 20 years and has been a Clinical Counsellor for 11 years. Dylan began his post-secondary career as a career advisor at SFU where he co-developed the Peer Educator Program. He returned to SFU and worked as a Clinical Counsellor where he provided individual and group counselling, supervised students, and worked in the threat assessment team. Dylan has been at Douglas for the past 2 years and deeply appreciates the opportunity to support students, faculty, and staff.
